A teenage girl has suffered horrific injuries protecting an 11-month-old baby in an attack by a machete-wielding gang.
The 13-year-old was in a critical condition in hospital last night after the armed men stormed a house and attacked a terrified woman and the girl inside.
Police in the North, who confirmed the details of the attack, are treating it as attempted murder.
Chillingly, a disturbing video later emerged on social media which seems to show the men stalking in the dark towards the home, and the victims screaming in terror as they are being slashed with machetes.
A second video shows the girl’s serious injuries, including a deep laceration to her back, about six inches long.

She threw herself on top of the baby to protect him, according to witnesses, but the infant was not injured in the attack at Trasna Way, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, at about 9.15pm on Saturday.
The attack is understood to be linked to a feud in the Traveller community.
The PSNI are investigating after the girl was taken to hospital, where she remained last night in a critical but stable condition.
A 41-year-old woman was also treated for wounds to her leg but she has since been discharged from hospital.
In a chilling video being circulated on various messaging platforms on social media, an attacker films, on his mobile phone, accomplices approaching a house in the dark, carrying their weapons.
One of the attackers appears to be wearing a dark-coloured Nike top, identifiable by the tick logo on the back.
The occupants of the house are visible through the windows, as the lights are on, and they sit watching the television. As the men rush through the door to launch the attack, the victims start screaming in terror. The men are then seen lashing out wildly with the machetes, as the girl cowers on the couch.
In a second video, filmed by the family of the seriously injured teenager, those who the family believe to be responsible for the attack are named.
The video shows a slight, brown-haired girl wearing a yellow T-shirt and blue jeans ripped at the knees, and holding a towel over her front while she sits on a couch, clearly in shock after the vicious attack.
As the person speaking names those they are blaming for the attack, blood is visible on the girl’s clothes, and the back of her T-shirt is lifted up to show a horrific injury – a cut deep into her back that is at least six inches long.
The person speaking names an individual and says: ‘You sent your son up to do a job, you knew the men wasn’t here, you watched the men going off, you came in on top of that little girl, who’s 14 years of age.
‘She was holding my little [child] in her arms, 11 months old. You tried to hit my little child with a machete, whoever it was. She saved my little child.’ Showing the girl’s injury in the video, the person says: ‘Boys, look what ye done, look what ye done to a little girl.
Are you proud of that? You scummy b*****ds ya.’ As paramedics in green scrubs and wearing blue nylon gloves help the teenager into a wheelchair to be brought for treatment, the person on the video says: ‘Boys, boys, boys, ye’re a disgrace, you couldn’t do it to the men.’ And in another video – which is believed to be related to the incident – one of those allegedly accused of the attack denies having anything to do with it, insisting he was in the midlands at the time.
PSNI detective sergeant Keith Monaghan said: ‘This must have been a terrifying ordeal for those involved and we are determined to find the men responsible.
‘We have several lines of inquiry which we are progressing at this time, but I would ask anyone with information or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact detectives in Enniskillen and pass that information on,.
Local Alliance Party member Matthew Beaumont, a candidate in Fermanagh South Down in the upcoming UK election said: ‘This attack in Lisnaskea, carried out by men carrying machetes, is to be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Whoever was responsible for this horrific attack must be caught quickly and face justice. I hope the two females injured make a full and speedy recovery. This must have been a terrifying experience for them.’
