British artist Richart Sowa is a proper guy he built a plastic island in mexico out of recycled plastic bottles. Watch, this guy builds plastic island paradise video and be inspired I hope!
He's first Island was destroyed in 2005 by a hurricane; a replacement, Joyxee Island, it has been open
since 2008 to tourists.
The "Island of Women" situated in the waters of Isla Mujeres, near Cancun. Opened for tourists in August, 2008.
The new island started 20 metres (66 ft) in diameter, and has since expanded to 25 metres (82 ft). It already has plants and mangroves growing on it.
The new island contains about 100,000 bottles altogether. It boasts three beaches, a solar-powered waterfall, a house, a river, two ponds, solar panels and a wave-powered washing machine. Volunteers helped with building the project. Mr Sowa will continue to make impressive improvements to the Island. Joyxee island will always be a work of art in progress.
Spiral Island has been featured in TV documentaries and a number of newspapers around the world, including South Korea and Japan, and has also been featured in an episode of the Ripley's Believe It or Not! the TV series, and in 2011 featured on the MTV program Extreme Cribs!
